Shiney Row Male Voice Choir (SRMVC) is a choir of four sections namely 1st Tenor, 2nd Tenor, Baritone and Bass. We, as are motto states, ‘rejoice in singing’ this we do not only for our own pleasure but also that of our many and various audiences both within the community and at prestigious events. As a friendly group of like-minded singers we consider ourselves approachable should you decide to apply for membership.
"I have been the Musical Director of the Choir for a number of years and would be delighted if you wanted to become a choir member and experience the joy we, and our audiences, get through singing." Carl Heron (Musical Director)
We sing a various selection of songs and, although the Choir does not enter competitions, we take pride in our performances and constantly strive to sing well. To achieve this we endeavour to rehearse, under the direction of Carl, every Friday from 7 to 9pm at St Aidan's Parish Centre, New Herrington, DH4 7LZ between September and June. Carl is very ably supported at rehearsals and events by our accompanist Bob Chicken, a very highly talented musician, who has been playing for the choir for a considerable number of years.
To join you do not have to be able to read music, or have previous experience of singing in a choir. What we are looking for is your enjoyment of singing and eagerness to join and sing with us.
'It was a workmate that showed me how to join the Choir 51 years ago and I have never looked back." Bobby Jobson (President & 1st Tenor)
"This is a very friendly choir, welcoming and good to sing with. I joined from another choir and made the right choice." Alan (Baritone)
If you like singing, are male, and are interested in becoming a choir member then please complete the 'Join Us
' form to the right, with as much information as possible. Our Secretary will make contact and take it from there. As stated above we rehearse on a Friday night so please come along to meet the choir and experience what we sing and do, we will make you most welcome.
